NFL Playoff Picture after Week 13

Wow, that Monday night game between Dallas and Washington was an all-time classic. At least, ESPN would have you believe it was. Really, it was 57 minutes of crap and 3 minutes of excitement. That's sports these days, just watch the ending. Anyway, here is the playoff picture after 3/4 of the season.

NFC

Week 11 Week 12 Week 13
Car 10-0 Car 11-0 Car 12-0
Ari 8-2 Ari 9-2 Ari 10-2
GB 7-3 Min 8-3 GB 8-4
NYG 5-5 Was 5-6 Was 5-7
Min 7-3 GB 7-4 Min 8-4
Atl 6-4 Sea 6-5 Sea 7-5
-------- -------- --------
TB 5-5 Atl 6-5 TB 6-6
Sea 5-5 TB 5-6 Atl 6-6
          NYG 5-6 Phi 5-7
          Chi 5-6 NYG 5-7
                     Chi 5-7

Pretty clear here, Green Bay beat Minnesota for the division lead, while Tampa Bay has bested Atlanta twice. The mess that is the NFC East is led by Washington who have a better head-to-head record against the Eagles and Giants. Having Seattle play Green Bay in the first round would be a waste.

Cincinnati has a better conference record than Denver and New England, while Denver takes the final bye as they beat New England the week prior (the Pats only conference loss). The Colts win over Houston gives them the division but the two play again on December 20. KC has the best conference record of the 7-5 teams, with the Jets second. Buffalo beat Houston this week to stay alive. The Bills visit Philly and Washington before finishing at home against Dallas and the Jets. They realistically need to win them all to make the playoffs.

Best,

Sean
