This week's Monday nighter features two teams out of the running, so here is the playoff picture on Monday afternoon.

As with last week,  pretty much five of six teams are set in the NFC, with just the East champ to be decided. Seattle's win over Minnesota has them in the 5th seed and eyeing a trip to Washington, Philadelphia, or New York. Arizona beat Philly to clinch the West. The Cardinals can still take first seed, while Packers can still take second seed. Those two play in the game of Week 16.

Atlanta is still alive but obviously must win both of their games while hoping Seattle and Minnesota lose their two tilts - that would eliminate the Vikings in the three-way tie. Even if Minnesota loses both and Atlanta wins both, the Vikings beat the Falcons earlier and have the tiebreaker.

The NFC East is Washington's to lose, so they probably will. There are a lot of possibilities, but simply put, if Washington wins both, they are champs; If Philadelphia wins both, they are the champs; and if New York wins both and the Redskins lose both, the Giants are the champs. If Washington and New York finished tied at 8-8, the Redskins would win on their better conference record. The Saturday night game will go a long way to clarifying this compelling battle.

Still a race for the two wild card spots and South crown. Houston now in control and should win out to take the division, but Jacksonville is still alive amazingly. If they win both and Tennessee wins both, the Jaguars will be your 7-9 AFC South champions. Pittsburgh jumps into the final playoff spot above the Jets  because New York beat NFC opponent Dallas, so he Steelers now get the tiebreaker on common games as both clubs now have 6-4 conference marks. Sorry Jets fans, but it isn't looking good with the Steelers and Chiefs facing teams out of the playoffs over the final two weeks.

Best,

Sean
