I'm off to the World Series

When it was announced that limited tickets to the NLCS and World Series in Globe Life Field would be sold, I immediately began to plan a trip. After all, the ballpark is one of three new venues in Club 123 and with the vast majority of the population still frightened thanks to a fear-mongering media, I figured I could get in cheap. Sure enough, tickets started at $75 and although Rangers season ticket holders got first dibs in a presale, there were still plenty available when they went on public sale a couple of weeks ago. You had to buy a pod of 4, and I picked up tickets for both Games 3 and 5. Several other Club 123 members wanted to go, and I had no trouble selling them my tickets (at face value of course) and so it was time to head to Texas.

The next step was finding other sporting events. Unlike jurisdictions run by morons in the Northeast, Texas allows people to take personal responsibility for their actions, and so fans are allowed in limited capacity to all events, with social distancing and masks mandated. And there are several events to enjoy, including a couple that I have never seen before.

On the Saturday of Game 4, there is an FCS game at Globe Life Park (the former home of the Rangers) between Stephen F. Austin and Abilene Christian. That night, AT&T Stadium is hosting Monster Jam, which might not be an athletic event but is still worth a visit (update: could not get a single ticket, so skipped this). Then on Sunday, there is a NASCAR doubleheader at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth. The trucks start at 11, so there will be plenty of time to get back to Arlington for Game 5.

So I will be in Texas for three days, which means that I need to quarantine when I return to New York. As I described in the last post, this law is beyond stupid, but there is no reason to fight it because when tyrants are in charge, you have no chance. So I will be going to another state with more relaxed laws. I will also be visiting Rentschler Field in Hartford to see Toronto FC hosting Inter Miami on November 1, but will be spending less than 24 hours there, as per the rules.

I will be updating the blog when possible, so check back regularly over the next few days as I take my first real sports road trip since March.

Best,

Sean
